Turnkey “smart house” system

The supply and exhaust ventilation system with heat and moisture recovery supplies fresh air to the premises and removes exhaust air. At the same time, it allows saving up to 70% on heating, since enthalpy heat exchanger heats and humidifies the supply flows with the heat and moisture taken from the removed flows. Air circulates through a system of air ducts which are installed at the construction stage or in the process of construction. Air distribution is performed with slot diffusers or ventilation grilles. As the most functional and efficient solution today, we recommend supply and exhaust ventilation based on the VAV system, which allows supplying large volume of air locally to those rooms where people are staying, while maintaining the balance of air in other rooms.

To implement the ventilation system, we use round air ducts made of galvanized steel (tin). minimal air resistance is ensured due to the round section, which means less noise during the operation of the system. Such air ducts are easy to install and maintain. It provides high-quality air exchange in domestic and commercial facilities. In projects we use tin air ducts that we manufacture.

Hidden slot diffusers are used to distribute air through the room, which are completely invisible in the interior. This is a stylish and extremely popular solution. In projects, we prefer linear diffusers of the TROX and Disair brands. A simpler and more economical option is to use ventilation grilles. They are more visible, but are available in different sizes and colors, and therefore you can choose the most suitable grill for your interior design.

Plenum box is one of the important elements of the system of round air ducts, which connects them to air distribution devices: grilles, diffusers or anemostats. Plenum boxes made of galvanized steel and are installed both on the supply and on the air intake – they are depicted in the diagram in blue and red, respectively. Suitable for all types of ceiling systems, if necessary, can be insulated.

In our projects, we prefer to use a ducted air conditioning system. There are many reasons for this. Ducted air conditioners distribute cooled air flows more efficiently without creating drafts, and besides, they are hidden in the interior as much as possible, as they are mounted in the overhead space. Air is supplied through ventilation grilles or slot diffusers. They can be mounted in technical and utility rooms, so lowering the ceilings in living rooms is not necessary. We recommend paying attention to Daikin ducted air conditioners as one of the highest quality and most efficient on the market.

A heat pump is a source of heat in the heating system, as it is the most efficient and energy-efficient unit. Gas condensing boiler (as a more advanced type of gas boiler) or an electric boiler can also be considered as a fairly inexpensive and affordable option. It can be installed as an intermediate solution before purchasing a heat pump. When implementing heating, Alter Air experts recommend giving preference to an air-to-water heat pump, as it uses renewable resources, helps to save energy and can be used for hot water supply and even air conditioning (with fan coil units).

We use floor convectors such as Kampmann and Kermi for an effective heating of the rooms in cold season. They are mounted in the floor and only an unnoticeable grille remains outside. Heat is supplied from the bottom to the top, which makes heating as efficient as possible. Floor convectors are especially recommended for use near panoramic windows and in places with low window sills, they prevent cold air from entering the rooms, heat the room efficiently and at the same time preserve the aesthetics and style of the interior.

Heated floor is a low-temperature source of heat. For comfortable use, it should not heat more than 26° C. We recommend the installation of heated floors to all our clients. The most optimal areas of application are bathrooms, bedroom. Since the temperature of the warm floor cannot exceed the value indicated above when frost sets in, it is rational to connect heating using radiators or convectors. Together with the warm floor heating system it will effectively heat the premises. You can always set the desired temperature yourself and adjust it accordingly.

The organization of the water supply system largely depends on the selected equipment. Cross-linked polyethylene pipes are considered quite effective. In our projects, we prefer to use the world-famous brands such as Uponor, NanoFlex and GofraFlex. They are characterized by increased durability, great flexibility and 100% protection against oxygen permeability.

Before choosing a water treatment system for a house or apartment, a water sample should be sent for analysis. Based on the results of analysis, Alter Air specialists will select a water treatment system that will solve the existing problems. The system can include a filter for water softening and removal of, chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, organic impurities etc. Ultraviolet disinfection can be installed if necessary. Such system is an absolute must for houses and apartments, if the owners want to avoid malfunction of household appliances and climate equipment that uses water, unpleasant feeling on the hair and skin, and damaged clothes. We use supply and exhaust ventilation without heat recovery to ensure the sufficient supply of fresh air as well as the intake of exhaust air for the number of people swimming in the pool. We use ventilation with no heat recovery because there is a high risk that the heat exchanger will freeze up due to the high humidity of the exhaust air.
